Online tuner

A free chromatic tuner that runs in your browser. Allow the microphone, play a note, and the tuner shows the nearest note, how many cents sharp or flat you are, and the frequency.

How to tune

What it shows

The note and its octave in scientific pitch notation (middle C is C4), how far you are from it on a gauge that runs from 50 cents flat to 50 cents sharp, and the frequency to a tenth of a hertz. It hears from about 30 Hz, the low B of a five-string bass, up to about 2,200 Hz, so it tunes basses, guitars, ukuleles, violins, cellos, brass, woodwinds and voices alike.

Because it is chromatic, it tunes any note, not only standard tuning: drop D, open G, DADGAD or a half step down all work the same way.

Reference pitch and note names

Concert pitch is A4 = 440 Hz. If your band or orchestra tunes higher or lower, set the reference anywhere from 415 to 466 Hz, one hertz at a time. Note names read C–B, C–H (the German names, where B is B♭ and H is B) or Do–Si, and start in the style of your language.

Then practise in time

When you are in tune, close the tuner and the metronome is right there: any tempo and time signature, subdivisions, a polyrhythm metronome and the tempo trainer. Look up a song's tempo in the song tempo list.

Questions

Is the online tuner free?
Yes. No ads, and no account or sign-up needed. It is part of ENYO Metronome, which is free in the browser and on the App Store.
Can I tune a guitar with it?
Yes. It is a chromatic tuner, so it tunes standard tuning (E A D G B E) and any alternate tuning: play each string and tune it until the needle sits in the green window.
Does it record me?
No. The sound from the microphone is analysed on your device as it arrives and is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere. The microphone is released as soon as you close the tuner.
How accurate is it?
It shows how far you are from the note in cents, hundredths of a semitone, and calls a note in tune when it is within 3 cents.
Can I change A = 440 Hz?
Yes, anywhere from 415 to 466 Hz, one hertz at a time, with the tuner's − and + buttons.
Why does it ask for the microphone?
A tuner has to hear the note. If you said no, allow the microphone for this site in your browser's settings: the tuner starts by itself as soon as it may listen.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first visit the web app, tuner included, opens without a connection. Install it from your browser to give it its own window.
